Avista Custom Theatrical Services, LLC was founded in 2007 by Jennifer Burkhart, Amanda Hatch, and Travis Whitaker as a properties design firm.
Over the first year we had the pleasure of working on several area productions including, HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH (Azuka), BUG (Theatre Exile), and SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD (Act II). We continue to work on amazing productions with many of the area theatre companies.
In July 2008 Avista expanded by purchasing the rental inventories of Prop Shop, Inc and Entertainment Technologies from founder Gene Frank, with whom we had all worked for several years. By moving into the former Prop Shop space in Norristown, we have not only expanded the inventory but our services as well.
Avista continues to carry the brand-name production supplies that Prop Shop always carried. Our list of suppliers continues to grow.
From Center City:
Take 76 West to 476 North (towards Plymouth Meeting). Get off 476 at the Norristown exit. Bear right at the bottom of the exit ramp. At the first light turn right onto Ridge Pike. Take Ridge Pike/Main Street into Norristown. You will cross Walnut, Arch, DeKalb, and Markley/202 streets. You will then cross a set of railroad tracks. Proceed to the first light at Haws Avenue. Turn left onto Haws and proceed to the second stop sign. Turn left onto W. Washington street. At the corner where the street appears to dead-end into a parking lot, bear left onto McKinley St.
Our building, number 501, takes up the entire right side of the street after you make this turn. We are located at the lower end of the building, through the first door. Our name is on the door, and we're at the top of the stairs on the left.
From the PA Turnpike:
Take the turnpike to exit 333 (Mid-County exit) and follow signs for 476 South. Once on 476 South, take the Norristown exit. Turn right onto Ridge Pike at the bottom of the exit ramp.
